LOTD

So here goes my very first look of the day! I've decided to go with makeup looks over clothing looks. I love clothes but I don't consider myself a "fashionista" of any sort. I thought it would be fun doing quick looks and just pictures of what steps I used for an occasional update rather than making everything a video.

Enjoy!

Start with the face. I just got Kat Von D's Lock-It foundation and I loove it. A few words of wisdom when using this foundation... A little goes a VERY long way. I only have to pump out a pea size amount and just use my finger to dab it in problem spots over my face, then I smooth it all out with a brush. I've read a lot of reviews and the most common complaint is that the foundation makes it look like you're wearing a mask, which definitely IS the case if you put on too much, but if you use the tiniest amount, it covers up imperfections and gives a nice natural mostly-matte finish.

The shade I went with is about a half a shade too pale for me *gasp - that never happens!!!* but I tone it down with powder.

These are the products I used for the face.
Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation - Light 42
Maybellline Dream Matte Powder - Light
Physicians Formula Happy Booster Blush - Warm
NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Powder - Sunny

I'm starting off by using 2 shadows from Urban Decay's first Naked Palette.

From 3/4 of the way across my lid, I'm crating a wing with Toasted.

I'm taking Hustle and darkening the wing at the lash line, letting Tosted peak out the top.

Use a fluffy brush to lightly blend out the edges.

Next I used S.A.L.T.Y Cosmetics Glama-ZOID loose shadow on the inner corners and middle of the lid. This is a GORGEOUS iridescent pink/white shadow. You can't see it very well in the pictures but it looks amazing and really makes green eyes pop!

I'm taking the light side of the Love & Beauty by Forever21 Eyeshadow Duo and applying it to the middle of the lower lid near the lash line with my finger to make the eyes look more open and bright.

I lined my eyes with my FAVORITE eyeliner, Physicians Formula Eye Booster in Deep Brown, creating a wing at the ends.

Then applied some mascara to the upper lashes and outer corners of the lower lashes. I used Whats Your Type? Black Mascara from theBalm.

And the look is complete!

It's a subtle eye look but still stands out when wearing my glasses. This has been a go-to look I've worn a few days in a row this last week for work. I LOVE the Glama-ZOID shadow. I saw it in one of the past Glam Bags on www.ipsy.com (which I didn't get) and wanted it so I ordered that and a few other samples from S.A.L.T.Y Cosmetics.

Hope you all like this look! I'll try to get one out every week (unless I'm being lazy...)

XOXOXO

Simple Batgirl Halloween Costume/Makeup Tutorial

So Halloween is coming up quick and I know there's people like me out there who love Halloween but have the hardest time coming up with a costume or making one happen... For as much as I love the holiday, I'm usually super lazy about the costumes I wear.

A few years ago I was a bum Yoshi (aka me in a green hoodie, green sweatpants and a tail sewn on...). The next year I just wore a pin up dress I owned and did my hair and my boyfriend was trying to go as Larry King but looked more like Colonel Sanders.... And last year I just went out in my normal clothes with a slit throat haha

So this year I put a real effort in to my costume, but I'm honestly not a huge fan of the costume sets sold in most Halloween stores. I didn't want to be a "sexy" batgirl or really "sexy" anything. C'mon, It'll be late October in Minnesota, I need my ass covered! So I put together this costume from a few things at the Halloween store and a few things I had at home.

I did all my actual shopping at the Spirit Halloween Store on a weekend when everything was 30% off. I got the tank top/cape for $23 (+ the discount) and the gloves/mask for $10 (I believe...). The shorts were $9. I had the thick sparkle tights, combat boots and yellow belt already. And that's the costume! I curled up my hair and did some pin up-esque makeup and transformed in to vintage
Batgirl!

So there you have it, my ultra geeky, simple Batgirl look! I hope everyone has a fun, safe Halloween!!!
XOXOXO

Zombie Pub Crawl 2012 Makeup

ZOMBIES!!!!
I did my boyfriend's sister Amy and her boyfriend Aaron's makeup for the Zombie Pub Crawl in Minneapolis.

Amy wanted to be a glamorous zombie and I got the go-ahead to go all out on Aaron. It's my first time doing legit gore makeup and I loved it!!! I thought they both turned out awesome :)

For the wounds, I just used tissue and liquid latex.

Happy Zombie Pub Crawl everyone!

Urban Decay Vice Palette + My first Glam Bag!

Hoooooly Moley! Today was a glorious day for makeup. I FINALLY got out to buy the Urban Decay Vice Palette. I've been drooling over pictures of it online for weeks and woot woot! Got paid today, so finally made the splurge. And if that wasn't amazing enough, I checked the mail today and my first months Glam Bag was delivered!

I'll cover everything I got, but first for what I'm sure will quickly turn in to my holy grail eyeshadow palette................

Almost shed a little tear when I opened it... It's so beautiful! (I know, I'm a spaz...)

Ok ok ok... so first impressions only since I haven't even owned the thing for more than a few hours, but good lord these shadows are beautiful! I swatched all the colors (no primer!) left to right in order from top to bottom on the palette and I can safely say I'm in love with every single color.

The pigmentation is incredible, and the fact that every color is 100% brand new is beyond awesome. At first glance, I know I'm going to be way over using Blitz, Penny Lane, Desperation, Provocateur , Rapture and Freebird.

Every shadow is buttery smooth, super pigmented, beautiful and just wow... I can already tell the new formula for the glittery shadows has been improved also, which I'm a HUGE fan of.

The ONLY downside to this palette is the price. It's hard to justify buying another palette of shadows when I already had so many, and at $59, it sure wasn't cheap, but it really is worth it. I love each and every color and they're all new, so I'm gonna stay on cloud 9 for a long time with this one!

You can find the Vice Palette at:
www.urbandecay.com
www.sephora.com
www.ulta.com

And here's what I got in my very first Glam Bag!

mirenesse Lip Bomb - Mirror Me
It's described as a "glossy lacquer stain". Keeping in mind I've only had it for a few hours, I will definitely agree with the lip stain claim! As seen in the swatch below, the color is an extremely opaque, blood red. I don't see the gloss really lasting through the day, but goodness, I had to SCRUB to get the color off my hand after swatching it. That to me is a pretty good indicator of how it will last on my lips, but time will tell! I'll update if my opinion changes after a few wears.

be a...bombshell eyeliner - Onyx
Hello fat eyeliner! No real opinions on this one, except that it's definitely black! I'm not the biggest fan of thick liners, but I'll give it a chance!

theBalm What's Your Type? Black Mascara
Again, too soon to tell how I feel about this product, but I really like the style of brush. My lashes are pretty hearty and I only have problems with mascara formulas that are especially watery, so I'm sure I'll love this sample. AND! I'm pleased its a sample! I'm really not a fan of buying full-size mascaras just because they do go bad so quickly and there's so much product wasted, so I usually feel better with sample sizes anyway :)

Coastal Scents pan quad - Vibrant Blue, Deep Eggplant, Candlelight, Elven Midnight
One of my very first palettes was a Coastal Scents 88 palette and after trying out so many different products and brands since then, I've been neglecting Coastal Scents lately.
I'm honestly really really pleased with the choise of colors in this set and the color payoff they have!
The bottom 2 shadows are both GORGEOUS and I really like the darker blue also. It's a perfect midnight blue with a hint of glitter. The light blue isn't really anyting special to me, but they've definitely reminded me why I loved Coastal Scents in the first place!

Couture Colour - Pequi Oil Treatment
Umm.... No comment? Haven't tried it yet and I really don't use much for products in my hair. I WILL try it though because it says it restores softness and shine which my hair NEEDS! I've bleached and colored my hair more times than I can count in the last year or so and my ends are FRIED! This is especially scary since I'm trying really hard to grow my hair out, so I'm all for anything that helps with my frizz/fried hair!

So that's all I have for tonight! I really have no complaints so far about any of the products listed. I'm super excited to be getting my Glam Bags FINALLY! (I waited so long when they had to stop accepting new submissions!)

You can learn more about how to sign up for monthly Glam Bags at www.ipsy.com. They're $10 a month and come with 4-5 full size and sample size products.

Until next time!

Doctor Who: Oswin Oswald Inspired Makeup Tutorial

Back with another tutorial! I've recenty become a HUGE Doctor Who fan and love love love the Matt Smith seasons. Last weekend we said goodbye to the Ponds and will soon be saying "hello sweetie" to Oswin Oswald! I loved what we've seen of her so far and reallly liked her makeup from the first episode.

It's super simple but really flattering so I decided to give it a go ;) Can't wait to see more of her this winter <3

I might do a video later for my favorite Amy makeup... Her's was always gorgeous too!

Enjoy!

Favorite Skin Care Products Review

I decided to make a video to showcase a few of my favorite skin care products. You'll notice I have a lot of peel-off masks (cause I'm a creep and love to peel things!)

Some backround on my skin is it's combination to oily. A lot of the products I list are really good at combating the extra oil I tend to have to deal with, so a lot of these products may not be the best if you have dry skin. Either way, I hope you all enjoy this video!

Also, if you have any suggestions on other oil-fighting products or good peel off masks, please leave a comment!

Enjoy!
